David Oscarson Magna Carta Rollerball Pen - Translucent Sapphire. The new Magna Carta collection is the 24th David Oscarson Limited Edition, which comes in three primary color variations. This Edition is in Translucent Sapphire, Red, White, and Blue Hard Enamel with gold vermeil. This series commemorates 800th anniversary of King John’s official sealing of the document June 15th 1215. Magna Carta means ‘the Great Character’, which was formed to conciliate the unpopular King and a group of rebel barons. Magna Carta has a significant role in shaping the English nation. Not only the English nation, but also the United States Constitution’s Fifth Amendment was derived from Magna Carta, which states that “no person shall be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law”. The Magna Carta writing instruments are exceptionally crafted from sterling silver and incorporated multiple levels of diamond-cut Guilloche engraving and a combination of translucent and opaque hard enamels. The pen barrels are decorated with Article 39 of the Magna Carta which reads in Latin. The pen cap proudly holds the British Flag (Union Jack) whereas the pen barrel features the American flag (Old Glory). Each cap is crowned with the primary seal of King John which was used to authenticate the documents in 1215 and the secondary seal is located at the base of the pen barrel.
