His discovery changed the medical world, particularly by its widespread use in the US and British armed service hospitals in World War II. The writing instruments are gorgeously adorned with a rendition of his signature around the pen barrel that represents countless prescriptions that have been written not only by Fleming but also by millions of doctors all over the world. The pen background is imprinted in a vertical motif interrupted by delicate stems branches and spores representing penicillium as it appears under a microscope slide or under the glass. The cap features a reconstruction of Alexander Fleming’s original petri dish that helped for discovery of penicillin.
